FEATURED PROJECT: 'Feel the Rhythms!' - a Premier Audio production for broadcast and online radio

In March 2017, we produced an innovative new radio show for a British community radio station. The brief was to showcase the best of reggae music, drawing on sources worldwide, for broadcast fortnightly, to promote diversity of output and as a result to increase weekday evening audience. 

"There's not a single song out there that doesn't have a story. It's the job of this show to tell it."

Currently going out alternate Thursdays on Colne Radio 106.6 FM and online colneradio.com this 2-hour show is researched, compiled and presented by Lee Gardner.

With minimal publicity, it has attracted listeners not only in the UK but also in Jamaica.

A mix of back catalogue and exciting new music is fast becoming this show's hallmark.

Music producers and artists have already spotted 'Feel the Rhythms!' which means pre-release material is frequently broadcast here first, in some cases maybe even ahead of the reggae shows everyone listens to, for example David Rodigan (BBC Radio 1xtra), Levi Roots (BBC Radio 2) and Seani B (BBC Radio 1xtra).

Huge gratitude to amazing independent publishers such as Jo at Ramrock Records, King Unrulee at Unrulee Records and Gardna at Boom Sound for contributing outstanding material for inclusion in the show.

The show aims to give as much air time as possible to emerging talent from all genres. That means great music from big names as well as little labels. 

Inclusion of custom jingles by leading dancehall and reggae artist Mr Straight ("Kool Breeze", "Lowe Mi Nuh", "Showtime", "Mi a Stay Ina Mi Lane") makes 'Feel the Rhythms!' the coolest reggae ticket in town.

"It’s the reggae show that makes summer last all year long," said Lee Gardner.

This show's combination of in-depth research, well-sourced content, skillful scripting and clear enthusiasm for reggae music demonstrates how professional content can be put in the reach of even a community radio station.
